Hindu Extremism on the Rise in India

NEW DELHI, India (CNS) -- Hindu fundamentalist groups in India are trying to curb the activities of other religious groups and control the "expressions" of those not conforming to their world view, according to analysts here. As examples, analysts point to Hindu attempts to change the Indian constitution in ways that would curb artistic free expression and restrict the right of minority Christians and Muslims to preach and practice their religion freely.

"Increasing intolerance among the Hindu fundamentalist organizations, which pose a grave threat to democracy, are an indication of the rise of fascist forces in India," said politics professor M. Mohanty of Delhi University.

"What happened with European fascism is now happening with the Hindus," he told CNSNews.com.

Kanti Bajpai, professor of international politics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, agreed, telling CNSNews.com that "the rise of right-wing politics in India is far more advanced and violent than in Austria."

More than 80 percent of India's nearly one billion people are Hindus. Muslims form a sizeable minority of around 15 percent, while just 2.5 percent are Christians.

Although Hindu fundamentalist leaders have formally denied responsibility for attacks on minority religious communities, their propaganda is characterized by threats of violence.

In Orissa, where Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons were murdered 13 months ago, the local government passed an order last November prohibiting religious conversions without the prior permission of the local police and a district magistrate.

The order, an amendment to the 1967 Orissa Freedom of Religion Act, stipulates that a citizen wishing to convert must undergo a police inquiry to explain his or her reasons.

India's most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, has passed a bill restricting the building and use of places of worship. It is awaiting the approval of the Indian president.

The western state of Gujarat recently lifted a ban on government employees being members of the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (national self-service organization, or RSS).
The RSS, which claims to be a socio-cultural organization, is the main think tank of several fundamentalist bodies in India, including the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The RSS functions as the principal guardian of Hindu ideology.

An RSS member assassinated Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. It has been banned three times since independence for its activities.

Also in Gujarat, lawmakers soon will debate a draft Freedom of Religion Bill, which makes it a criminal offense to use force or fraud in converting a person from one religion to another.

Hindu fundamentalists forced an Indo-Canadian movie director, Deepa Mehta, from filming a movie that reportedly depicted an upper caste Hindu widow falling in love with a lower caste laborer as well as widows being forced into prostitution by those in the upper castes.

Taking exception to the storyline of "Water," activists said it "tarnished the image of the country and Hindus."

Actress Nandita Das, who stars in "Water," said the fanatics were misleading people and causing trouble for the whole society "in a country known for its unity in diversity."

Political scientist Mohanty warned that the greatest danger to India's "extremely strained social fabric" may come not from Sikh or Muslim separatists, but from Hindu fundamentalists.

The vice-president of the ruling BJP, J.P. Mathur, said Hindus were known for their tolerance, but that "Muslim fundamentalism has now forced us to raise our head and counter it. It is all because of the survival of the fittest."

India has a long history of violence between the Hindu majority and Muslims. Recently, Christians also have been targeted.

The New Delhi-based United Christian Forum for Human Rights has documented more than 120 attacks against Christian individuals, churches, and schools, allegedly by Hindu fundamentalists, in the past year. Half of the incidents have occurred in Gujarat.

The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Delhi, Alan de Lastic, said extremists were employing a national-level strategy to try to stem the influence of Christians.

"It is more pronounced in states where there is a government affiliated to the Hindu ideology and a small Christian population," he said.

A resurgence of Hindu fundamentalism has taken place over the past decade, beginning with an RSS television campaign in the late 1980s to forge a self-conscious collective Hindu identity.

In 1991, present Home Minister L. K. Advani undertook a historic "chariot journey" from a Hindu temple in Gujarat to the legendary birthplace of the Hindu god Ram.

The symbolic journey helped transform the BJP from marginal group with just two seats in parliament a decade ago to the ruling party today.

In 1992, Muslims became the main targets of Hindus with the destruction of a mosque built in the 16th century on a site some Hindus believe a Hindu temple once stood.

International politics professor Bajpai compared the strategy used by the RSS to that of Joerg Haider and the Freedom Party in Austria.

"The right here too advocates extreme and flagrant positions and then retreats and recants as a way of disarming critics and opponents - and succeeds only too well."

The fundamentalists had also used the fear of "outsiders within" to build a support base.

"Immigration has been one way of doing this, but more important here has been the portrayal of religious and ethnic minorities as aliens whose loyalty to the nation is questionable," Bajpai explained.

"Measures need to be taken to curb this trend, otherwise it will destroy the multi-cultural fabric of India," warned Mohanty.

The Mumbai enigma

On Nov 26, an enigma began unfolding in Mumbai. It emerged that 12 gunmen armed with AK-47 assault rifles ransacked Mumbai for three days killing 188 people (unverified), including a few Israelis and other westerners. Security forces suffered 14 casualties. One terrorist, Kasab, who appeared to have been focused by the cameras, was arrested while all others were killed.

Why did the terrorists not carry any shoulder-fired rockets/grenades and explosives to Mumbai? The attackers, if they had no love lost for India, ought to have planned for maximum destruction during the attack. Or was the attack not meant to cause extensive damage?

Three of the 14 personnel killed were those who had proved that a serving Indian Army colonel, in collusion with Hindu militant groups, had actually bombed and burned Pakistanis alive inside the Samjhauta Express in 2007. While the father of Karkare, the senior-most Anti-Terrorist Squad officer, refused to receive condolences on behalf of the State of India and his widow refused to receive any monetary award. Did they conclusively believe that Karkare and his companions were assassinated for absolving Pakistan of complicity in the Samjhauta Express massacre in which 68 Pakistanis lost their lives? If this was somehow true, as it can be because of a very plausible State motive existing, then what was actually happening in Mumbai on 26 November 2008? Was there the linkage between the terrorists and the State forces? Is this why rocket launchers and explosives were not carried by the attackers, in order to contain destruction? Questions like these seek credible answers. The suspicious killing of Karkare and his colleagues has caused a rumpus even in the Indian Parliament.

With every window on each floor of the Taj Hotel being an entry point that was accessible by the fire brigade equipment available in Mumbai, could three terrorists actually hold that 750-room hotel building for three days against the might of India? What we saw happening in Mumbai defies military logic. How could the other nine terrorists also hold out in groups of twos and threes in a number of very accessible and widely dispersed buildings, independent of each other, for three days?

The Islamabad Marriott was destroyed in moments [Ed. note - a fact, it was an Israeli Mossad micronuke with complicity of U.S. Marines]. That was a horrific real-life terrorist attack. The terrorists in Mumbai somehow did not even carry enough explosive to blow up one single room anywhere? Billowing smoke came through the top of the Taj Hotel. Was the smoke there for the cameras of the world electronic media in order to have Mumbai on the television screens of the world for three days to cause an international outcry meant to facilitate the subsequent political moves in the region? Could that objective have been to bring in the entire world against Pakistan, especially the USA, by maligning Pakistan in such a manner that Pakistan’s political and military establishment is cornered and browbeaten into submission?

The road would then obviously lead to measured attempts aimed at denuclearisation of Pakistan’s military potential and also decimating its conventional military potential, including the crippling of the ISI. To people saying its preposterous to imagine that India orchestrated Mumbai it can be said that the price paid by India is nothing at all if the bigger objectives outlined above are even partially achieved. India may not be alone on this. Israeli interest in the denuclearisation of Pakistan is well known and the Israelis are likely to have played a role larger than what is obvious. The Indian Navy’s Western Command based at Mumbai maintains a hawkish vigil on India’s maritime borders with Pakistan. Yet, it is said that a bunch of ragtag terrorists sailed into Mumbai for the attacks we all witnessed on TV. For a moment let us assume that the terrorists actually came from Pakistan’s maritime borders. Why, then, have the Indian chief of the Naval Staff and the Commander of the Indian Naval Western Command not been held accountable for such a colossal failure?

The Mumbai enigma needs to be conclusively resolved and the best way to do so is through a combined investigation committee of Pakistan and India, as Pakistan has offered.

Pakistan and India are burdened by unemployment, poverty and deprivation. Neither country can boast of internal stability. Both have their share of ethnic and sectarian disorders and are troubled by militancy. Some very strong Hindu militant organisations in India are far beyond State control. Nearly 200 districts in India have some sort of serious disorder or insurgency. Neither country can ever overpower the other militarily. The option of a Pakistan-India war is no longer an option because the cost would be the total destruction of South Asia. Therefore, the only way that Pakistan and India can survive and be viable States is through peaceful and good relations. India has to stop dreaming of ever being able to treat Pakistan as a satellite state.

India must guard against falling prey to any wishful desire to see Pakistan dismembered through an international conspiracy, because the domino effect of disaster will not stop at Pakistan’s borders with India. The many blood borders, within India itself, will all get activated, as in the case of the erstwhile Soviet Union. Let both countries now begin to move towards a European-Union-kind of a South Asia.

If the people of South Asia are to be more than mere pawns in world politics then the only way towards that is for Pakistan and India to bury the hatchet. Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Burma, Sri Lanka and the Maldives will become natural partners of Pakistan and India. Other countries like Iran and Afghanistan would then want to be on the South Asian bandwagon of peace, progress and prosperity. Central Asia, China and ASEAN too would be interested in a fruitful partnership. Pakistan and India truly hold the balance between the survival or destruction of South Asia and to a progressive or a retrogressive Asia.

Dispur, January 25: 676 militants from Assam, who have been members of 9 separatist groups, laid down their arms, to return to mainstream life. This has been the biggest surrender ceremony in North East India. The ceremony took place in Guwahati, the main city of Assam. Soon after laying down arms, the ex-militants recounted the gory of violence and harsh life they led in jungles.

“We have realized the futility of an armed struggle and decided to join the mainstream with the sincere hope that our grievances could be resolved through negotiations with the government,” said Javerez Khaka, chairman of the Adivasi Cobra Militant of Assam. Sources have revealed that the 9 militant groups have embarked on observing ceasefire with the Central and State government. Formal peace talks are to commence soon.

The nine outfits that surrendered the arms are Adivasi Peoples’ Army (APA), All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA), Santhal Tiger Force (STF), Birsa Commando Force (BSF), Adivasi Cobra Militant Army (ACMA), the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA), Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA), the United Kukigram Defence Army (UKDA) and the Hmar Peoples’ Convention-Democratic (HPC-D). The 9 groups are part of 2 chief ethnic groups -Tribal Kukis in Eastern Assam and Adivasis. They have been the inhabitants of North and West Assam.

“Today is a historic day as not very often one sees so many militant groups shunning the path of violence and joining the national mainstream,” said Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, in whose presence the militants laid down the arms. “Leave the past behind and look to the future positively. We assure that each one of you would be treated equally and be able to lead a life of dignity and honour.”

“The peace talks with the pro-talk faction of the ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom) led by its chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa are under way while the proposed peace talks with the Dima Halam Daogah (Niranjan) faction is in the final stage,” added the Home Minister.

fascination for violence in the saffron parivar seems to have reached its pinnacle with the phenomenon of Hindutva terror. It has been more than a decade that this phenomenon has raised its head which saw many avoidable deaths. Here we witness activists, workers, Pracharaks of the ’cause’ collecting arms, storing explosives, engaging themselves in arms training and making elaborate plans to put it at crowded places to have maximum impact. One finds them putting the explosives in larger religious congregations, in crowded trains or in busy areas to teach the ’others’ a lesson.We also witness the cowardice exhibited during many such operations by them where the conspirators camouflaged themselves as the ’other’ to further stigmatise the other community. As things stand today n number of workers of different Hindutva formations have been apprehended, cases have been registered, investigations are on.

Carnage and the Motives: Anti Muslim violence and Anti Sikh Massacre

Last few months (June 2012) Narendra Modi has been much in news for his spectacular rise in BJP hierarchy and his projection as the BJP nominee for the future Prime Minister. That there is blood on the hands of Modi, carnage of 2002 Gujarat, cannot be washed off with any amount of pouring the water of ‘myth of vibrant Gujarat’. Modi-BJP is also labeled as Fascist by many social scientists-activists. On many a political debates on TV or other forum, when such charges are labeled against Modi-BJP pat comes the reply, if Modi is fascist for Gujarat carnage, what about the Congress-the anti Sikh pogrom of 1984. Its true murder is a murder, inexcusable, irrespective of who does it. In that sense Congress is also guilty of letting Anti Sikh pogrom take place right under its nose, many of its cadres-leaders instigating the riot, while the police machinery at best looking the other way round.

But that’s just a part of the story. It’s at the level of political process that these carnages, Gujarat and Delhi, cannot be equated and have totally different politics at the back of it. There are carnages which are a part of deeper political processes, and there are other carnages which are accidental, revengeful and ‘one go’ affair, where political motives if at all are of temporary nature. The Delhi massacre falls in the second category.

On 30h January 1984, Indira Gandhi was walking in her compound to give an interview, and right there her Sikh bodyguards gunned her down. Indira Gandhi was advised to remove the Sikh body guards in the wake of operation Blue Star. In This operation by Indian army Golden Temple was attacked, to evacuate Khalistani militants hiding there. Mrs. Gandhi refused remove Sikhs from her team of body guards rhetorically asking, are we not secular? After her murder the atmosphere in Delhi got charged, the newly sworn Prime Minister was glum, being covered by the TV camera, while the massacre-anti Sikh pogrom started outside. Rajiv Gandhi at this point uttered that infamous sentence, ‘When a big tree falls, the Earth shakes’. This was a signal enough for the rioters, the elements from Congress, those shaken by Indira’s murder and lumpen-elements to go on with their job. Rajiv Gandhi visited the riot areas on third day, military was called and peace came in. The process of justice and reconciliation began, some semblance of rehabilitation came through, some semblance of justice began but still a number of those involved in the crime have not been punished. Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh both expressed regret, remorse in their own way. This was a ‘one go’ political madness in which Sikhs were targeted in the wake of the murder of Indira Gandhi. There was no deeper-long term political agenda. It was a sort of political insanity, momentary and tragic, painful and horrifying which tormented the Sikh community, a political accident so to say.

Gujarat is a different cup of tea. From the decade of 1990, with BJP government coming to power, all the wings of RSS combine, VHP, Bajrang Dal and their patriarch RSS came to full scale, unrestrained activity. RSS Chief Rajendra Singh declared that Gujarat is the ‘Laboratory of Hindu Rashtra’. Different villages of Gujarat started putting the hoarding outside their villages. ‘Welcome to so and so village of Hindu Rashtra’. Adivasi areas started seeing the intimidation of Christians; Muslim youth were attacked for inter-religious marriages. Meanwhile BJP was losing the grip on the electoral arena and in the forthcoming 2002 assembly elections; the fear was that BJP may lose. Here came the Godhra, Sabarmati train burning, 58 Kar Sevaks, innocents got burnt alive. The local administration said it is not pre planned act. Modi had his own calculations; he instantly declared that it is premeditated act by local Muslim in collaboration with the Pakistan’s ISI and International terrorism.

The burnt bodies of Kar Sevaks were taken in a procession on the instructions of Modi. VHP called for a Bandh and as per Citizens Tribunal report and the affidavit of Sanjiv Bhatt, Modi instructed the state administration to sit back and to let the Hindus vent their anger. Modi did not visit the riot affected areas for weeks, till another swayamsevak, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, gathered courage to visit the victims in Shah Alam camp and Modi accompanied him. The mayhem went on and on for months. Refugee camps run by the state were wound up, no rehabilitation, relief and remorse from the state machinery.

The polarization process in the state, the ghettotization of Muslims is more or less complete by now and Muslims have been relegated to second class citizenship in the state. While few affluent Muslim businessmen are turning to Modi for their survival, the average Muslims are living the life of all round neglect. Most of those who were alleged to be part of leading the mobs, got rewarded, re-elected, though some of them are cooling their heels in the jails under different charges. Gujarat carnage was one more, and most horrifying in the chain of anti Muslim violence which began from the Jabalpur one in 1961 and passing through the other horrific riots of Meerut Malyana, Bhagalpur, Bhivandi, Mumbai in all of which the anti Muslim one’s. The percentage of Muslim victims so has been 90%. In many of these the inquiry commissions have showed the role of organizations affiliated to RSS or its ideology of Hindu Rashtra.

The carnage of Gujarat is a part of the series of anti Muslim violence being spearheaded by the divisive ideology of religion based nationalism. In the same ‘ideological violence’ has come in anti Christian violence peaking in Kandhmal in August 2008.

The issue of Anti Sikh pogrom, equally condemnable has to be seen in a different light. While the anti Muslim and anti Christian violence is guided by the ideological agenda, the anti Sikh violence was a political accident taken advantage of by Congress. It passed off leaving bitter social realities. The anti Muslim-anti Christian violence is the part of slowly developing agenda of Hindu Rashtra, the goal of RSS in this country. This agenda of RSS has streaks of authoritarian ideologies. Social scientists look for analogies for analyzing social-political phenomenon. In case of Modi, who is part of the RSS agenda at political level, their inner differences notwithstanding, the carnage of Gujarat is an expression of Fascism, as politics of religion based nationalism. Like fascism it targets minorities (Jews were targeted in Germany). It asserts its supremacy as a race or religion and harps on the glorious past where the caste and gender hierarchies were the norms. Translated in contemporary times it means abolition of democracy, abolition of liberal space, looking down upon the plural ethos of the nation and turning to the social stratification of earlier times.

While Fascism word is used very often, what is it exactly? Is it a just a dictatorship or is it just massacre of minorities or is there something more to it? These two are the key ingredients of fascism. The other major pillar of fascism is an intimidation of weaker sections through street violence, abolition of democracy and the creation of hysteria around the infallible leader. Hitler was one such, who wanted nation based on German (Aryan Race), he persecuted the Jews [grandiose lie told by the Jews - it was actually Christians that Hitler persecuted] and then Communists, He was glorified as the infallible leader, he usurped all the powers in his hands and did have an aggressive stance towards not only the ‘others’ in the country but also the ‘other nations. Hitler was also the favorite of big capitalists. Is any political leader on Indian political chess board close to these analogies?

What Next for Dalit Christians?
Finally, the Justice Mishra Commission has come out in favour of reservation for Dalit Christians and Muslims. The main argument, like the one in the petition before the Supreme Court, is that religion should not have been used as the criteria to determine Dalit reservation in the Presidential Order of 1950.

One member in the Commission, Asha Das, has dissented saying that the Parliament or Judiciary cannot change religious practice. Her argument is that Islam and Christianity as religions do not in principle have the caste system as part of their religious ethos. She is silent, however, on how Parliament was able to give reservation to Dalit Sikhs and Dalit Buddhists when both Sikhism and Buddhism also do not allow for the caste system. Further, she is silent on the research data which reveals that the caste system and caste-based discrimination of Dalits has penetrated all religions in India. Those who perpetrate crimes against Dalits do not first verify if their victims are Dalit Hindus or Dalit Christians. The fact that they are Dalits is enough to abuse and discriminate against them.

I think that despite the Mishra Commission's recommendation, the Government is going to vacillate on the issue when the case appears for its hearing in the Supreme Court. The UPA Government has a strong upper caste lobby which is against any positive action or reservations for Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims. They are also against reservations for Other Backward Caste (OBC) students in higher institutions.

The extremist Hindutva lobby fears that if Dalit Christians are given reservations, then all Dalits everywhere will exit Hinduism into Christianity and other religions. They are going to try and block this initiative by any means necessary. Their agenda is to keep the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes trapped in the caste system. Their response to the Commission’s recommendation shows the hypocrisy of the anti-conversion laws forced into practice in state after state under the guise of preventing forced and fraudulent conversions. If anyone has used forced and fraudulent means to imprison and discriminate against millions of people (namely the 250 million Dalits) it is the Hindutva brigade. Instead of passing anti-conversion laws, why are they not working on laws that will abolish caste ideology and the practice of the caste system in India? It is caste slavery that is pushing Dalits and the Backward Castes into other faiths.

The fight for Dalit Christian reservation is largely led by Dalit Christian groups who are involved in the Dalit Freedom cause. Now non-Christian Dalit groups like Udit Raj's Confederation and others also support Dalit Christian reservation.

Upper caste Christians are not really in the forefront of the struggle, even though there are some exceptions. The question for the predominantly upper caste Christian leadership of the Church is: How long will it take before you proactively remove casteism and the caste system in the Church? The writing is on the wall. Dalits will not be denied their just rights anymore both inside and outside the Church. The caste system is being revealed for what it really is – India's Hidden Apartheid. How long before Church leadership removes this disgusting blemish of caste practice in the Church when it comes to marriage, community, leadership and fellowship? Will the Church in India (across denominational lines) split and break apart due to the unwillingness of the minority upper caste leadership in the Church to deal with the caste system within the Church? How can one argue for the unity of the Church based on the glaring unrighteousness and injustice within the Church?

I hope the international business community is detecting the major caste churning going on in India and is not fooled by the upper caste business community who live in perpetual self-denial about the caste system. The election of a Dalit as Chief Minister of India's largest state (Uttar Pradesh) is the loudest political signal coming out of India this month. Multinationals cannot afford to walk around blindfolded to caste realities even as they rush in to enjoy the profits of the new Indian economy

The 'India Rising' is but one small facet of the India mosaic. The larger face of India is of the majority oppressed and facing discrimination, the poor, the suicidal farmers and the abused Dalits.

According to St. Augustine the Sixth Age of the World lasts until the Second Coming of Christ.

Our Lord Jesus Christ's Second Coming is, according to St. Augustine, the Seventh Day. (Ages and Days are the same. They are not of equal length from one to the next.) The Eighth Day is the eternal age in the recreated universe when Christ has returned and reigns visibly forevermore.

The so-called “secret rapture” is heretical docetic denial of the resurrection.]

Palestinian Minister Rapes Child in Tel Aviv?

A Palestinian family from Ramallah recently demanded that President Mahmoud Abbas punish his so-called Civil Affairs Minister, Mr. Hussein Al-Sheikh, who they say raped their minor daughter. Minister Al-Sheikh bamboozled the girls’s family and convinced them to accompany him on a journey of recreation to the shores of Tel Aviv, where he raped the girl. The immoral behavior of the minister has caused the understandable resentment and anger of her family, which lives in conservative Palestinian society where girls and women are “punished” with death for even being looked at, what is called “honor killings”.

Minister, Rapist, Criminal. Psychopath?

Minister Al-Sheikh tried to bribe the victim’s family by paying US$ 65 thousand dollars in return for silence, but the family refused the money and insisted to go to President Abbas, who promised to punish the offender. The promise of the President Abbas did not get out from behind the closed doors of the meeting, and the rogue “Minister” Al-Sheikh is still in his position and enjoys impunity. After the incident with the girl, Al-Sheikh raped another woman, this time a married woman. Her husband filed a criminal complaint against the Minister, but the rapist Minister Al-Sheikh remains free.

Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad, who receives massive support from USA and EU, covers up these rapes and other horrors perpetrated by his Minister Al-Sheikh. Fayyad also covers up the corruption of his “Minister of Foreign Affairs”, Dr. Riyad Al-Maliki, who embezzled the whole budget of the Ministry for his own pocket and failed to fulfill any of the duties of his position as a minister. From the Cabinet of Fayyad wafts an especially rotten smell, not only because Fayyad is imposed by the US and CIA elements, but also because of widespread ans systemic corruption. It is otherwise not understandable why Fayyad protects the crimes of his Ministers, either it is corruption what unites them, or it is the diktat from the US which wants these criminals to stay in power, because in Palestine nobody wants them.

Minister Al-Sheikh was already known to have raped a number of beautiful Palestinian girls before these lat outrages. He uses his positions to lure young women and girls and then rape them with impunity. Among the girls whom he had raped earlier are several Christian girls. The position of “Minister of Civil Affairs” means that he is the Minister in charge of contact with the Israeli military administration in order to obtain VIP cards for the important figures (fat cats) of the Palestinian authority, travel permits for students, workers, sick people, marrying couples, burial permissions etc.

Everything in Palestine needs a permission issued by the Israeli occupation, and this position and ministry is in charge of going to the israelis to lick arse to get the permissions necessary for society to be able to function. Even President Abbas and his diplomatic staff need travel permits from the Israeli military administration whenever they want to travel abroad or move between the PNA cantons in the occupied territories. As said, the last victim of this Minister is a married woman from Ramallah. Her husband presented a criminal complaint to the Office of President Abbas, but Abbas, another kindred spirit of the israelis, is covering up the crimes of Al-Sheikh.

According to my knowledge Israel nominates the Palestinian Ministers who deal with their military officers, and not the Palestinian Authority. The PNA only offers up a list of names, from which their “security” system, Mossad, Shabak, military intelligence, choose the persons who they want. Al-Sheikh, the current Palestinian Minister of “Civil Affairs”, does not “deal” with an Israeli minister but sits in Beit-Il in the office of some IDF officer (or even a simple soldier) whenever he needs an ID or a travel permit for any Palestinian, and receives (or not) what he comes to ask for, plus orders.

Minister Al-Sheikh has built good relationship with the  Israelis since before being a minister because he is a native speaker of Hebrew. Another important factor why Minister al-Sheikh is in his position, is because the israelis, who know of his criminal inclinations, want him there exactly because of that – and this is a recurring theme which can be observed everywhere: the israelis only allow criminals and corrupt people anywhere near them – obviously a deep understanding amond kindred spirits.

In the occupied Palestinian territories, the old Jordanian and Egyptian laws which were issued before 1967 are still being implemented at courts of justice despite nobody wanting them and many efforts to replace them. These inhuman old laws protect rapists of women and minor girls discriminate between men and women. Under these laws, the girls who are subject to rape and are over the age of 15 have no rights, because these laws deal with them not as victims, but as if they had consented to the rape. These inhuman laws were introduced in the Middle East by the French many decades ago and later copied by the Jordanians, before 1967.

Beyond these disgusting laws, the Palestinian Authority and the political fat cats systematically cover up rape, incest and honor killings. A number of PA figures perpetrate such crimes as a pastime and assault women working at their offices. When anyone from the PA or political figures hear about such a problem of rape and sexual abuse, the criminals are not prosecuted. In addition to this, whenever the crime submitted to the court of justice, light sentences are issued against the offender in order to protect them from further prosecution.

Under this criminal regime, the Palestinian community is faced with an increase of “honor killing” of girls and women because of the increase of sexual crimes perpetrated by PA figures who know they remain impune. The PA ignores this issues and responds to it with increasingly brutal suppression against the nation, imposing its power and control by arresting not only the political opposition but anybody who dares to speak out about their crimes.

In more than one case of rape and honor killing, President Abbas and his ministers promised to change the family laws in Palestine to reflect the will of the people and implement justice and equality for women. Actually, he changed several laws which serve the military, his interest and power, but under the laws which concerns the Palestinian family, women are still the subhumans. The promises of Abbas have remained in place because he fears that changing the laws will negatively his ministers, officers, senior officials and employees in power who use the impunity in law and among their peers continue to rape women and harass girls and workers sexually.

The EU finances this disgusting state of affairs with at least EUR 300 Million annually, between direct cash gifts to the PA and moneys given to many people and organizations within who enjoy the rents of nepotism of the PA.
